With the advent of larger glass panels, the additional heat generated in buildings has to be addressed, and Spectrum Glass are at the forefront of Solar Control glass manufacture.
Solar Control Glass
can reflect over half of the sun’s heat
without the need to open a window.
Solar Control glass can be used in any location but is particularly suitable for South West to South East located views. Large Sliding patio doors and conservatories can generate a lot of heat especially when a property is empty for a large portion of a sunny day and doors cannot be opened. Solar Control glazing can help reduce the suns heat by up to 50-60%. This can also be attributed to offices and socially crowded environments.
The glazing industry has developed various products to make sure that usable energy (heat) is not lost through glass by means of adding low emissivity coatings to the face of the glass that reflects heat back into the house. Through these high specification coatings, Warm Edge spacer technology and triple glazing Spectrum Glass can produce insulated glass units with a U value as low as 0.6 W/m2K.

All newly installed domestic PVCu windows have to achieve an energy rating specific to the frame being installed. For aluminium windows a centre pane U value relevant to the profile has to be achieved. Spectrum Glass can help companies get the absolute best possible result for their window systems.
With security being at the forefront of home design, Secured By Design is an initiative set up by the Police force to design out crime. Spectrum Glass is a registered manufacturer of SBD glass products and can work with all contractors to achieve the desired requirements.
Thicker interlayer laminates have been proven to hinder intruder attacks for a period deemed long enough to warrant the intruder giving up the home invasion or Police presence is imminent.
For SBD qualification, the standard requires that any window or door frame on a ground floor or first floor location that can be accessed by an intruder must be manufactured with a security laminate with a thicker interlayer than normal (0.8mm)
