stainless steel

Stainless Steel balustrades are available in many formats, from the iconic glazed post and rail system, or wire rope to the horizontal solid bar balustrade. There is a style to suit most properties.

stainless steel features

The majority of Spectrum Glass balustrades are supplied in Marine Grade 316L Satin Stainless Steel (SSS). However, we can offer a mirror finish if required. We do not offer 304 Stainless Steel as this is not suited to properties within 15 miles of the coast. We can also offer many different glass finishes from standard clear to tinted glass or even obscure sandblasted with a low maintenance coating.

application

As with most balustrades, post based systems can be installed almost anywhere that a suitable fixing is available or can be constructed. They tend to suit more traditional properties but can be designed to suit the most contemporary properties or even commercial applications.

Frameless balustrades

Frameless balustrades evoque the feeling of space and light. Normally used to make the most of a property’s view and outside space, frameless balustrades can also help create the perception of an area as more open, whilst still being safe.

frameless features

Frameless balustrades are minimalist and allow uninterrupted views. Whilst being almost invisible they can significantly change the outlook on a property.

We use toughened laminated glass to comply with current building control regulations.

application

As there is no additional frame to support itself, the importance of having the correct supporting structure is second to none. All balustrade systems will have a rigorously tested and certified installation test. Concrete and Steel are the preferred substrates to install to. Timber should be avoided unless structural calculations have been addressed by a specialist.

Channel balustrades

Channel balustrades are a straight forward method when trying to create the frameless look. Generally used on contemporary properties they can be installed almost anywhere.

glass channel features

Spectrum Glass channel balustrades have a single row of fixing holes suitable for resin fixed studs or expansion fixings. All our channel balustrades are easily adjustable to enable the alignment of the glass edge with minimal fuss.

application

Used where concrete and steel are the primary substrate, they are a popular addition to a rising number of new domestic developments due to their simplistic fixing and glazing.

standoffs

Spectrum Glass standoffs are available in 50mm or 70mm diameter 316L Satin Stainless Steel. Projections range from 10mm to 50mm for standard products, or up to 100mm for bespoke fabricated items.

Standoffs features

All our standoffs come with a removable threaded stud which can be installed into expansion sleeves or resin fixed into concrete, or even screwed directly into a threaded insert for timber. The glass being used with the standoffs will require drilled holes to accept the threaded stud.

application

Standoffs can be use for a frameless finish where it may be difficult to install a run of channel without it being impeded. Such as a down pipe or brick protrusion.

pool spigots

Pool Spigots originated in Australia and as the name suggests they are used to create a clear unobtrusive barrier around an area of the same level. Such as the surrounding area of a swimming pool. Approximately two spigots are used per linear metre of glass.

pool spigot features

This is a quick installation system for when two areas need to be divided but without creating an obstruction.

Normally available as Satin or Mirror Polished Stainless steel.

application

Pool Spigots used in their correct manner can be installed into most
solid substrates where structural integrity isn’t required.

timber balustrades

Traditional timber spindles are more frequently being replaced with glass to create areas of light and space in smaller hallways and landings. A number of different fixing methods are available and with the ability to machine timber easily these methods are being developed constantly.

timber balustrade features

Glass gives timber an extra depth that can’t be achieved with timber alone.
The feature grains of the timber are complemented by the clarity and simplicity of the glass.

application

Normally glass would be used in a wooden balustrade or staircase to make the most of a home’s natural light where timber wouldn’t work. The combination of glass and timber together can create a stunning effect especially where different tints of glass are mixed with types of timber such as walnut and hickory.
