Dedicated support & knowledge for commercial glass installation

On-Time & On-Budget Projects

Your commercial development projects can be complex at the best of times with tight deadlines and financial penalties. With glass being integral to each project, Spectrum Glass is a critical partner to many developers.

We work closely with Commercial Developers across the country to ensure glass is not one of your onsite problems. From punctual delivery to supporting fitting teams with different types of glass and how to resolve issues.

We go further to help drive project success.

What are the different
types of glass?

When embarking on a commercial development, glass will come in many
shapes and forms. Some are quite obvious from the design stage as specified by an architect, and some are not so obvious. Spectrum Glass have a vast range of products available for processing and that range is increasing all the time.

  • Toughenable mirrors for high traffic areas or shower screens.
  • Switchable mirrors for disguising TV screens. When the TV is on its visible, when its off it’s a mirror.
  • Coloured laminates for glass balustrades or division walls.

How to manage glass
when on site?

We all know glass is a delicate product, but sometimes that still doesn’t stop panels getting broken or scratched after delivery. Here are a few reasons that glass panels don’t make it to their destination.

  • Always aim to have a suitable A frame on site with carpeted timber.
  • Never place glass on a hard surface or rest the top edge against a hard surface.
  • Never drag a piece of glass along the floor of the A frame or a vehicle. Always lift then move.

What could go wrong?

It’s never nice to think what could go wrong, but making sure you’ve
addressed all the issues before hand makes for a nice straightforward job. A few things that can get overlooked or the questions that should be asked first are:

  • Is the weight of the glass too heavy for the door its being installed in?
  • Are the aluminium frames you’ve specified, glazed with silicone rubber gaskets that aren’t suitable for the self-cleaning glass the customer wants?
  • Have you budgeted for the appropriate MEWPS?
Cranes aren’t all the same size.
